Reflecting on Transfiguration

It is early morning. I am preparing for Eucharist on the Feast of Transfiguration, Jesus’ radiance on that mountain up from Galilee. As I work, I reflect on the painting below by Australian artist Hans Heysen, it is called, “Droving into the Light”.

The 9th biennial Safer Churches Conference will be the first conference held by the National Council of Churches in Australia (NCCA) Safe Church Program since the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse recommendations were released in December 2017.

The theme for the conference will provide the framework across the two-day event.

Representatives of Christian churches are urging Christians to celebrate September as the “Season of Creation” in an effort to raise awareness about climate change.

1 September was proclaimed a Day of Prayer for Creation by the Orthodox in 1989 and repeated by Pope Francis in 2015.
