How We Work

The NCCA gathers together Churches and Christian communities which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures. We commit to deepen our relationship with each other and to work together towards the fulfilment of common witness, proclamation and service, to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Joint International Ecumenical Statement on Conflict in the Middle East

We pray for the people of the Middle East who have suffered too much violence for too long, and too often as the result of interventions by external actors.

President’s Reflection

We find ourselves in an overwhelming environment. The feared outbreak of war in the Middle East has happened. We long for signs of peace at all levels, personally, in community, and more globally.

Prayer for Peace in the Middle East

We pray for the people of Iran, for the people of Israel, and for all across the region living tonight with fear. We pray for children woken by sirens, for families seeking safety, for those carrying grief, anger and anxiety.

NCCA affirms Human Dignity, Human Rights and Compassion for Australian Children and Women detained in Syria

The protection of children living in indefinite detention in a deteriorating security environment in Syria is a moral imperative.

Emergency humanitarian assistance desperately needed as war escalates in the Middle East

Tens of thousands of people are being forced from their homes as airstrikes and cross-border fighting intensifies. Families are fleeing with little more than what they can carry, seeking safety in communities already under immense strain.

President’s Reflection

“When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem” (Luke 9:51, NRSV).

This past week we entered the season of Lent. Ash from the burned Palm Sunday leaves were used on Ash Wednesday to make the sign of the cross on the foreheads of worshippers. Lent is a ‘turning point’ season in the Church year.

Prayer

This week’s prayer is shared by Act for Peace from local partner, the National Council of Churches in the Philippines.

The National Council of Churches in Australia (NCCA) and the Australian Churches Refugee Taskforce (ACRT), in a joint submission to the Senate Inquiry into Offshore Processing and Resettlement Arrangements, are highly critical of the scheme which is “ill-conceived” and “appears to squander government revenue”.
