 In a little less than two weeks’ time people will gather in Karlsruhe, Germany for the 11th General Assembly of the World Council of Churches.  

The theme of the assembly is “Christ’s love moves the world to reconciliation and unity.”

Act for Peace are seeking a new Non-Executive Director with lived experience of displacement.  

This search is part of their new strategic focus on working even more closely with people who have been displaced

At the recent meeting of the Australian Ecumenical Officers Network (AEON), State and Territory Councils/Churches Together joined with NCCA in committing to work together with our respective member churches to promote greater understanding of the Uluru Statement from the Heart and education about the forthcoming Constitutional Referendum on establishing a Voice to parliament for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Reverend Ikani Tolu, General Secretary of the Tongan National Council of Churches recently visited the Sydney office of Act for Peace. He thanked Australians who had given their support when the devastating Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai volcanic eruption occurred earlier in the year.

Ecumenical International Youth Day Toolkit: Indigenous Youth and Land Rights Activism

The World Council of Churches (WCC) has published this toolkit to help people reflect, advocate, and pray about the challenges and learn more about the wisdom of Indigenous Peoples.

The celebration of Social Justice Sunday is a long tradition in the Catholic Church in Australia along with many other churches.

The 2022-2023 Statement, Respect: Confronting Violence and Abuse and resources are available to download from the The Australian Catholic Bishops’ Conference, Office for Justice, Ecology and Peace.

The NCCA congratulates Professor Anne Pattel-Gray on her new role.

The University of Divinity has recently appointed Professor Anne Pattel-Gray as Professor of Indigenous Studies and inaugural Head of the School of Indigenous Studies at the University of Divinity.

Anne is a descendant of the Bidjara / Kari Kari people of Queensland and a celebrated Aboriginal leader.
