Why Christian unity matters

Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay, General Secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC), in his sermon on 30 April, in Charlotte, North Carolina (US) asks, “What is God calling Christians and the Christian Church to do today? Whose and what voices are we listening to?”

The sermon was given during morning worship at the 2024 United Methodist General Conference in Charlotte, N.C., on 30 April 2024.

“God uses a number of instruments to reach and transform the world, including and especially the church,” said Rev Pillay. “Christians need to stand up for justice and we need to stand together. In unity is our strength.

“Together we can live and fulfil God’s vision for the world. Together! Christian unity matters.”
