Australian Churches Refugee Taskforce

Support for people escaping the conflict in Israel and Gaza

Hundreds of people who have fled Israel or Gaza have travelled to Australia on Visitor Visas and other short-term visas. While it is welcome news that people have been able to travel to safety in Australia, these visas are not designed to support people fleeing conflict. As such, most people do not have work rights, access to Medicare, access to income support or study rights.

The Refugee Council of Australia have put together a support page providing these people and those helping them with as much information as possible to navigate this challenging process.

Advice about exiting Gaza and visas to Australia includes:

  • Legal advice
  • Casework support and emergency relief
  • Housing
  • Healthcare and mental health
  • and more

ACRTx350Australian Churches Refugee Taskforce (ACRT) is an activity of the National Council of Churches in Australia (NCCA).

We believe our faith calls us to welcome the stranger and care for the people who find themselves displaced, marginalised or homeless, and those in need of protection. We want to see a compassionate and generous response to welcoming refugees into Australia.
