How We Work

The NCCA gathers together Churches and Christian communities which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures. We commit to deepen our relationship with each other and to work together towards the fulfilment of common witness, proclamation and service, to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Anglican Church of Australia

Reflection from the President

I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. John10:10

The promise of abundance is an interesting one. Jesus describes this giving of abundant life as being his deep purpose and indicates that this is for ‘they’ – sheep of many folds!

Reflection from the President

Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! (Luke 12:24)

To say that we are in an environment of unpredictability is to state the obvious.

NCCA Webinar

Reflection from the President

When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem. Luke 9:51

This year the date for Easter in the churches of the East and West coincide and so this week Christian communities together entered into Lent. It only happens every 11 years or so. The quest for a common date for Easter is ongoing and remains a priority for many.

Lent is a time to focus on the path of Jesus to Jerusalem.

1700 Anniversary of the Council of Nicaea

Resources for worship and reflection for all ages.

Resources about  the first Ecumenical Council have been prepared for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2025 (in Australia 1 – 8 June 2025) and are now available. The resources provide a unique opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the common faith of Christians as expressed in the Creed formulated at that Council.

Reflection from the President

“Which of these three, do you think, was a neighbour to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?” He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.” Luke 11:36-37

… When Jesus makes a statement, it is direct and clear.

Reflection from the President

If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Romans 12:18

These past few days I had time to stand and ponder at a place that has great significance for the local Indigenous people.

Reflection from the President

“With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing.
My brothers and sisters, this should not be.”  James 3:9-10
I am intrigued by the way that James writes about the difficulties of the ‘taming of the tongue’.

Gaza ceasefire

Peace with Justice
O Lord, you will hear the desire of the meek; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear to do justice for the orphan and the oppressed, so that those from earth may strike terror no more.   Psalm 10:17– 18
It is with prayerful gratitude that we received the news that a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas had been reached, and that arrangements had begun for the exchange of hostages.
