The past few years have been challenging. There is so much pain and heartbreak in our world it is easy to feel disheartened - but that’s why the actions that we take are so important. 

How fortunate we are to be making the choice to eat rations for just one week, whilst being able to feed our loved ones a healthy meal. It's not the same for all mothers.

Lilla's Story

A few years ago, Act for Peace staff member Ruthann had the privilege of visiting a refugee camp in Jordan. She met some of the families who are receiving support through the Ration Challenge.  She remembers meeting Lilia*, who was kind enough to invite me her into her home.

Lilia had 3 young sons, and has since, also given birth to a beautiful baby girl. She and her husband made the impossible decision to flee their home, in search of safety, when they could no longer keep their family safe.

The love that Lilia has for her children was evident, and it pained her to be raising her young family in a tent, with very little to offer them. She wants what every parent wants for her children – a good life, a bright future, and a safe place to call home. 

While Ruthann was there, she saw first-hand how much it means to Lilia to receive rations for her family, to be able to take her sick child to the doctor, and just to know that she and her family are not forgotten, and that there are people who care. She saw the difference the funds raised from the challenge make to Lilia's life.

Through the Ration Challenge, you can make an extraordinary difference for families like Lilia's.

As the number of refugees and displaced people reaches more than 100 million, there is no better time to do something practical to help. Together, we are working to raise funds to support refugees and people around the world, giving them access to emergency food, but also the practical support which will empower them and make it possible for them to create a better life for themselves, and their family.
