World Council of Churches

As the three Abrahamic faiths prepare to observe Ramadan, Easter and Pesach, a time of peace is called for.

The World Council of Churches' (WCC) General secretary, Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay visited Palestine and Israel 16-22 February 2024 to advocate for a ceasefire and promote a just peace.

Rev. Prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay embarked on his inaugural journey to the Holy Land as the WCC General Secretary, amidst the ongoing occupation and conflict in Gaza.

“It is clear that collaboration is required in the efforts to end the war in Gaza, provide humanitarian support for all people affected, ensure the freedom of religion, and encourage the necessity of dialogue to create a secure and safe future for both Israeli and Palestinian people.”  Rev. Prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay
