Pakistan Supreme Court upholds acquittal

Asia Bibi is now free to leave Pakistan after the acquittal of Islamist blasphemy charges. Ms Bibi, a Christian, has spent eight years in prison convicted of a blasphemy crime which is punishable by death in the Islamic Republic.  

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Christians worldwide have been praying for this decison. In one of the most public cases of Christian persecution in recent years, the  knowledge that a conviction of blasphemy against the prophet Muhammad would result in a death sentence for the young woman.

 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
(Isaiah 41:10)
