Bishop Siluan, newly consecrated Bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church

The New Year has us thinking of one of our newest NCCA members, the Serbian Orthodox Church. The Church was accepted as a member at the NCCA National Forum in 2010 and now begins 2017 with a newly consecrated church leader, Bishop Siluan, Bishop of the Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand.

Bishop Siluan was elected to the position at the regular session of the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church in May 2016. He was consecrated on 7 August 2016 at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Holy Archangel Michael in Belgrade. His enthronement followed on 22 October 2016 at the St George Historic Cathedral in Cabramatta.

To mark the Feast of the Birth of Christ, celebrated on 7 January in the Orthodox tradition, Bishop Siluan released his Christmas statement for the Serbian Orthodox community

As we approach the second month of 2017 we wish our friends of the Serbian Orthodox Church well as they celebrate their National Day of Independence on 15 February, a day of historical significance observed in liturgy.
