ACRT - #dignitynotdestitution

ACRTx350

A Christian Vision of Compassion and Hospitality

The Australian Churches Refugee Taskforce (ACRT) has developed a pamphlet which outlines the ways in which we can advocate for the dignity of refugees and asylum seekers. It contains practical ways to make a difference.

The foundational principle of the #gidnitynotdestitution campaign  is the belief that no person lawfully residing in Australia should be forced into destitution through the removal of accesss to financial and housing supports.  Around 12,000 people will be affected by the Government changes in the Status Resolution Support Services (SRSS), and it is deeply concerning to our Churches and Charities.

You can make a difference in any of the following ways:

  • Advocate – send a message to the Prime Minister using the tear off section of the ACRT pamphlet
  • Write or visit your MP personally – express your concern in relation to the impending increase in destitution
  • Become a HomeHost or a HomeHost supporter - churches and individuals providing a safe place for people facing destitution
  • Donate – support people facing destitution through the Refugee Council of Australia or ACRT.  ACRT will ensure that funds made directly to them are dispersed to support people seeking asylum.
