How We Work

The NCCA gathers together Churches and Christian communities which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures. We commit to deepen our relationship with each other and to work together towards the fulfilment of common witness, proclamation and service, to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2a).

At the moment with what is surrounding us, it is a bit harder to maintain perspective. Media dramatizes the news. In its focus of what it sees as wrong, our sense of security and perspective can be shaken. Not everything that happens can be reduced to polar opposites.

It takes a level of personal discipline not to get caught up in such narratives. As we make a choice not to do so, we move beyond the immediate agenda and maintain our focus on what is the source of our identity and faith and therefore our security.

Beyond our own church identity and our particular roles and responsibilities, we are united in our ‘looking to Jesus’. Our church traditions differ and at times are contrasting, yet we are as one in affirming that it is Jesus who calls us to faith and discipleship.

We are together as people who ‘look to Jesus’. This is our deepest personal and communal reference point. We look to Jesus, to his faith, compassion and courage and as we do so, our perspective is clarified and we find hope and direction.

Over the past months, the Board of the NCCA has been moving through a process of discernment. We have been intentional in our ‘looking to Jesus’ in the task of searching for a new General Secretary for the NCCA.  We have taken time to pray and reflect. It clear to the Board that the person to lead the life of the NCCA into this next season is Dr Kate Power, the current General Secretary of Queensland Churches Together.

Kate is being invited to work with us all, as together ‘we look to Jesus’ and seek the deepening of our relationships and a stronger collective witness to our common identity. Kate commences on November 16, 2026.

We invite your prayer and support in this new journey for Kate and the NCCA as we ‘look to Jesus’.
