How We Work

The NCCA gathers together Churches and Christian communities which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures. We commit to deepen our relationship with each other and to work together towards the fulfilment of common witness, proclamation and service, to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Catastrophic flash floods and landslides swept through communities in the north of the country on August 26, destroying homes, roads and bridges.

More than 1,000 people have died and thousands remain missing. Search and rescue operations are continuing, but damaged roads, bridges and the threat of further flooding are making some communities incredibly difficult to reach.

At this devastating time, we’re inviting churches across Australia to pray for the people of Nepal and stand alongside communities as they respond and recover.

Thousands of households need urgent assistance, including emergency shelter, food, safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene supplies, healthcare and protection.

Even as search and rescue efforts continue, local communities are responding. Through the ACT Alliance, locally led organisations in Nepal are drawing on established networks, relationships and humanitarian experience to assess needs and support affected communities, working alongside the Government-led response.

As part of this global Christian network, Act for Peace is inviting churches and supporters here in Australia to stand alongside them.

Please consider making a gift from your church, taking up a special offering, or sharing the Nepal Emergency Appeal with your congregation this weekend.

The days and weeks ahead are critical. Your support can help resource the humanitarian response as communities meet urgent needs and begin the much longer process of recovering and rebuilding.

Please also join us in praying for those who have lost loved ones, for people who remain missing and the families waiting for news, for communities whose homes and livelihoods have been devastated, and for all those responding in difficult conditions.

Act for Peace is a member of the Emergency Action Alliance. We join 15 leading Australian aid organisations to collectively support the Emergency Action Alliance’s Nepal Flood Disaster Appeal.
