Following a successful pilot, the Community Refugee Integration and Settlement Program (CRISP) has become a permanent part of Australia’s humanitarian program, and Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia (CRSA) has been appointed to deliver the permanent program.
This is an important milestone for community-led refugee welcome in Australia. It reflects the work of many people, groups and organisations who have helped show what is possible when local communities are supported to play a practical role in refugee settlement.
The ABC recently aired a program celebrating the success of CRISP. Titled “Sky’s the Limit”, tells the story of refugee newcomers Naima and Feisal, and the group of Australians that welcomed them through the Community Refugee Integration & Settlement Program (CRISP).
