How We Work

The NCCA gathers together Churches and Christian communities which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures. We commit to deepen our relationship with each other and to work together towards the fulfilment of common witness, proclamation and service, to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Two powerful earthquakes have devastated communities across north-central Venezuela, leaving families grieving the loss of loved ones, displaced from their homes and in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.

Homes, schools and health facilities have been damaged or destroyed, forcing many families to shelter in temporary accommodation or out in the open as aftershocks continue. Access to clean water, food, healthcare and other essential services has been severely disrupted.

Please give today to help provide life-saving assistance through trusted local organisations already responding on the ground.

When disasters strike, local people are always the first to respond.

Through the ACT Alliance, Act for Peace is supporting trusted local organisations already working alongside communities affected by the earthquakes. Because these organisations were part of their communities before disaster struck, they have been able to begin responding immediately.

Together, they are assessing urgent needs and providing emergency assistance, including food, clean water, healthcare, shelter and psychosocial support for people affected by the disaster.

“Now that people are receiving support from other countries, it’s such a relief because they know they’re not left behind or facing this emergency alone. We’re working with local churches because that’s how we’re able to reach some of the most difficult places,” says Golda Ibarra, Country Representative for Lutheran World Federation.

As rescue efforts continue, local organisations are also preparing to expand their response, including emergency medical care, mental health support and assistance for families beginning the long process of recovery.
