How We Work

The NCCA gathers together Churches and Christian communities which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures. We commit to deepen our relationship with each other and to work together towards the fulfilment of common witness, proclamation and service, to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

A group of Australian Quakers has organised this online symposium to celebrate Refugee Week. It will highlight the contribution of a group of young Afghans who are continuing their commitment to peace and social justice, forged in the midst of war in Afghanistan, in the new lands in which they have settled.

The two periods of Taliban rule (roughly 2001–2021), Afghanistan saw a dense landscape of civil society initiatives around peacebuilding, women’s rights, and gender equality, led by Afghan NGOs, informal community groups, and international partners.

Afghans who fled after August 2021 have become key actors in keeping Afghan peace, social justice and gender equality struggles alive from exile, combining direct support to people inside Afghanistan with advocacy, movement-building and institution-building abroad.
