How We Work

The NCCA gathers together Churches and Christian communities which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures. We commit to deepen our relationship with each other and to work together towards the fulfilment of common witness, proclamation and service, to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Churches in the Northern Hemisphere are preparing to mark this week in January 2026.

In Australia, and elsewhere around the southern hemisphere, we will mark this week from Sunday 17 may to Sunday 24 May 2026.

Churches and Christian communities worldwide are invited to use the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2026 resources to pray together for the unity among churches throughout the year.

The theme for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in 2026:

“There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling” (Ephesians 4:4)

An international team was appointed jointly by the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity (DPCU) and the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches (WCC) and were prepared in collaboration with the the Inter-Church
Relations’ Department of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

The biblical text for 2026 is Ephesians 4:1-13
