How We Work

The NCCA gathers together Churches and Christian communities which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures. We commit to deepen our relationship with each other and to work together towards the fulfilment of common witness, proclamation and service, to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

‘Truth Be Told’: Responding to Yoorrook as a Catholic community

An invitation is extended to join this Forum which will will provide an opportunity to consider the process of truth-telling, what Yoorrook has brought to light, how truth-telling connects with treaty and how we can respond.

In July 2025 the Yoorrook Justice Commission, Australia’s first formal truth-telling process, released its final reports. And just last week, Treaty legislation passed in Victorian Parliament.

For those who haven’t been following what all this means for the Catholic community, Catholic Social Services Victoria (CSSV) is partnering with the Australian Catholic University to present a forum which will will give us an opportunity to consider the process of truth-telling, what Yoorrook has brought to light, how truth-telling connects with treaty and how we can respond.

The forum will include contributions from:

  • Jason Kelly, Member of the First Peoples Assembly
  • Keicha Day, Treaty Engagement Coordinator, Guntitj Mirring Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation, and Yoorrook Justice Commission witness
  • Dr Suzannah Henty, Hugh Ramsey Postdoctoral Fellow, University of Melbourne and Yoorrook Justice Commission witness
