How We Work

The NCCA gathers together Churches and Christian communities which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures. We commit to deepen our relationship with each other and to work together towards the fulfilment of common witness, proclamation and service, to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

UNHCR Global Report

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, recently released its updated global report on how many people have been forced to flee their homes worldwide.

The latest Global Trends Report shows there were 123.2 million people forcibly displaced worldwide at the end of 2024 as a result of persecution, conflict, violence, human rights violations, or events seriously disturbing public order. That number is made up of:

  • 73.5 million international displaced people
  • 31 million refugees  8.4 million asylum seekers
  • 5.9 million Palestine refugees
  • 5.9 million people in need of international protection.

According to Filippo Grandi, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, peace is central to finding solutions to the displacement crisis.

“The search for peace must be at the heart of all efforts to find long-lasting solutions for refugees and others forced to flee their homes,” he says.

The numbers are shocking. You can view the report online: Global Trends report 2024 | UNHCR

But we must remember – each number represents an individual with a unique story. Everyone’s reason for fleeing their homeland is different – they might be forced from their home by conflict, disaster, or persecution.

Every person has a story to tell, and we remain committed to standing with refugees and people who have been displaced, amplifying their voices and sharing their stories until everyone has a safe place to belong.
