Hope25
Hope25 seeks to empower Australian Anglican parishes and communities in an intentional season of sharing hope in Jesus from Easter to Pentecost in 2025. In this outreach, The Anglican Church aims to share with its communities the hope that Jesus offers in an uncertain world.
It is an initiative of the Mission and Ministry Commission of the General Synod of the Anglican Church of Australia
The Anglican Bishop of Canberra and Goulburn, Bishop Mark Short says, in his article for the magazine Engage, published by the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture (ACC&C):
Central to the revolutionary impact of Christian hope is its vision of the present and coming kingdom of God.
Bishop Short writes that “This is a vision which both affirms the goodness of the created order and looks forward to its transformation and liberation from the effects of human wrong-doing.”
Bishop Short also shares insights into a new book he is reading by the South Korean Roman Catholic Philosopher Byung-Chul Han, The Spirit of Hope (Cambridge: Polity Press, 2024). He points out that for Han, hope has three essential characteristics: hope is passionate, hope is communal and relational, and hope is active.
