How We Work

The NCCA gathers together Churches and Christian communities which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures. We commit to deepen our relationship with each other and to work together towards the fulfilment of common witness, proclamation and service, to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The World Council of Churches will host an online panel discussion entitled: “The risks of artificial general intelligence: how should faith communities respond?” on 25 February 2026 at 16:00 CET which is 02:00 AEDT (Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne time).
The dialogue will bring together scientists, ethicists, and theologians to consider various facets of artificial general intelligence (AGI) and artificial intelligence (AI) risks—including the AI arms race—and how faith communities respond?
  • What are the risks of the AI arms race between the USA and China?
  • Can international rules-based order limit these developments?
  • How can faith communities respond?
Although the timing is a bit crazy for Australia, the panelists are top-notch:

  • Archbishop Emerita Dr Antje Jackelén, former archbishop of the Church of Sweden
  • Rev. Dr Kenneth Mtata, WCC programme director for Life, Justice, and Peace
  • Dr Brian Green, director of Technology Ethics at the Markkula Centre for Applied Ethics
