Micah Australia has produced a Statement of Support for Australian Aid ahead of the budget.
NCCA President Rev John Gilmore on behalf of the National Council of Churches in Australia (NCCA) and Andrew Hassett, CEO of our aid agency Act for Peace have signed the statement and we are encouraging Church Leaders to sign on as well. The Statement will be presented in a ‘living’ banner to be launched at the Australian Parliament in the week commencing 23 March 2026.
The Statement will form part of the Micah Women’s Network Tour event (23–30 March) where the campaign banner will be signed alongside the 800+ women expected to add their names during the tour.
Statement of Support for Australian Aid

We all feel it.
The world is changing.
Conflict is rising.
Disasters are intensifying.
Even here in Australia, we feel the consequences.
Global shocks pushing up costs here at home.
Friends and colleagues watching their families and communities endure violence or disaster overseas.
It’s easy to feel powerless.
But here’s something many Australians don’t realise.
Every day, Australians are already helping make the world safer.
It’s called Australian aid.
For less than 1% of the federal budget, Australian aid helps strengthen health systems, educate children, respond to humanitarian crises, and support stability across our region.
A safer world for our neighbours is a safer world for Australia.
Good leaders understand something important:
Aid isn’t charity. It’s a strategic investment.
But our politicians need to know we understand this too.
So we’re adding our voices to tell them:
Support Australian aid because it saves lives, prevents crises, and helps make a safer world for all.
