New resource from the eSafety Commissioner
To mark Families week the eSafety Commissioner has released a new resource for Child and Family Sector Professionals Working with Young People
The Online safety and sexual development guidance looks through the lens of online safety at how children grow and mature in sexual literacy and respectful relationships from birth to 18 years.
A new resource from eSafety outlines the progression of children’s understanding of sexual literacy and respectful relationships from birth to age 18, with a focus on navigating these areas safely in the digital world.
The resource is structured around four key domains:
- Culture, Social Norms and Sexuality – How children and young people understand gender roles, identity, and social expectations, including how these are shaped by online influences.
- Bodies, Consent and Privacy – Guidance on body autonomy, consent, and privacy, including how these concepts apply in digital spaces.
- Relationships – Insights into how children form and maintain relationships, both offline and online, and how to support respectful, inclusive interactions.
- Sexual Literacy – Information on how children learn about sex, including the role of media, pornography, and online communities.
