Social media age restrictions are coming from 10 December
The Australian Government is protecting young people at a critical stage of their development, through world-first social media age restrictions.
From 10 December 2025, certain social media platforms won’t be allowed to let Australian children under 16 create or keep an account.
It’s not a ban, it’s a delay to having accounts.
To help raise awareness for the social media age restrictions, the NSW Government Department of Customer Service have developed a toolkit with resources you can share with your networks and communities.
Resources include:
- newsletter/web copy
- posters and flyers
- videos
- social media content
- First Nations flyers, guide and workbook translated community resources.
