Act for Peace, the aid and development agency of the National Council of Churches in Australia, has announced that Andrew Hassett has been appointed as new Chief Executive Officer and will be joining Act for Peace on Tuesday, 27th January.
“The National Council of Churches in Australia welcomes the appointment of Andrew Hassett as the CEO of Act for Peace,” says NCCA President, Reverend John Gilmore. “We do so with anticipation and hope. Andrew brings a wealth of experience and understanding in relation to the challenges of our time and the critical importance of building peace at all levels.”
Andrew is a senior leader with over 20 years of experience in international development, working across faith-based INGOs, multilateral organisations and the corporate sector, uniquely positioning him to lead Act for Peace’s next phase of growth and movement building.
Andrew has previously served as Director of Communications and Advocacy with the UNICEF hosted Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children and as Senior Director of Advocacy and Global Campaigns for World Vision International.
“Faith communities have long stood at the forefront of peace movements, demonstrating the power of solidarity and compassion,” shares Andrew. “That tradition of collective action is more important than ever.”
Act for Peace is entering an exciting new chapter, building on its 75-year history responding to the crises faced by people displaced by conflict, climate and disaster.
