How We Work

The NCCA gathers together Churches and Christian communities which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures. We commit to deepen our relationship with each other and to work together towards the fulfilment of common witness, proclamation and service, to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The NCCA Board has written to NSW Premier Chris Minns to express deep displeasure with the actions of NSW police against Muslims at prayer near a protest gathering on Monday, 9th February.

The NCCA Board had earlier written to the Australian National Imams Council to express our utmost solidarity and in protesting in the strongest possible terms the actions of NSW police in physically manhandling Muslims saying their sunset prayers peacefully outside the Sydney Town Hall on 9th February.

As people of faith living in a liberal democracy, we stand together with the Australian National Imams Council to remind governments and the forces of law and order of Australia to uphold the rights of people to express their religious faith in public and by non-violent means such as prayer, at all times.

We cherish the freedoms for people of faith in Australia and decry that this was violently impinged upon during last Monday evening’s protest event.

At the very least we believe Premier Minns on behalf of the NSW government, and the Commissioner of NSW Police should make a public apology for these unnecessary and un-called for actions by police against the praying members of the Muslim community.
