Webinar: ‘End the Waiting’
“I was a stranger and you welcomed me” (Matthew 25:35)
You are invited to join the webinar to launch Common Grace’s campaign for a movement to come together in prayer and engage in upcoming opportunities to take action together for Justice for People Seeking Asylum.
This webinar is co-hosted by the Australian Churches Refugee Taskforce (ACRT) and Common Grace.
“In Australia, we are so thankful for the humanitarian resettlement program, and the efforts by the Government when they were first elected, to help 20,000 asylum seekers living in limbo find a pathway to permanent settlement. However, thousands of people who have sought safety on our shores still remain in limbo, facing an uncertain future. Many have lived here for years — raising families, working, contributing and building community — yet remain denied permanent protection. Every day of waiting chips away at hope, dignity, and the possibility of rebuilding life”
When: Thursday 19 June 2025 7:30pm – 9:00pm AEST

The Big Walk 4 Refugees 2025
The Big Walk 4 Refugees is back in 2025 – for the whole of June.
Join the virtual walk on 1st June. Show your support for refugees and people seeking asylum and help raise awareness in the wider community.
During June you can make all of your usual walking (or other physical activity) count towards the progress of the virtual Walk. Every step that we each make will power the virtual Walk that will go right around Australia, and also pass through Christmas Island, Indonesia, PNG and Nauru before returning to the mainland to finish at Parliament House in Canberra.
At certain points in the virtual walk there will be suggestions about how you can take action online to send a message to politicians.
You can log steps or kilometres manually on the Big Walk website or sync an App on your phone, Fitbit or other device – click here to see Instructions on how to do this.
Read the FAQs to find out more detail about how to participate in the Big Walk.

Why are we Walking?
Last year we walked in solidarity with the 10,000 people in our community still waiting for permanent visas – as we know, most of these people are still waiting for permanent visas – after 13 years. This year we are also walking for:
- around 14,000 people stranded in Indonesia, still waiting for resettlement after 12 years
- the 100 + people sent to Nauru since October 2023 and unsure of their future
- around 40 men (some with families) who have been abandoned in Papua New Guinea since 2013.
