How We Work

The NCCA gathers together Churches and Christian communities which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures. We commit to deepen our relationship with each other and to work together towards the fulfilment of common witness, proclamation and service, to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

#End the Waiting Campaign

The campaign was launched on Thursday 19 June 2025 with a webinar, co hosted by between Australian Churches Refugee Taskforce (ACRT) and Common Grace. This was attended by almost 70 people.

Sister Brigid (Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project) and Colin Elkington from the Salvation Army spoke about the need to #End the Waiting, to enable asylum seekers to live and thrive in Australia.

#End the Waiting

The aim of the campaign is for a movement to come together in prayer and engage in upcoming opportunities to take action together for Justice for People Seeking Asylum.

In Australia, we are so thankful for the humanitarian resettlement program, and the efforts by the Government when they were first elected, to help 20,000 asylum seekers living in limbo find a pathway to permanent settlement.

BUT

Thousands of people who have sought safety on our shores still remain in limbo, facing an uncertain future. Many have lived here for years — raising families, working, contributing — yet remain denied permanent protection.

WHY

We long for the day when those who come to our shores for safety are welcomed with the kindness and compassion that Jesus teaches. Every day of waiting chips away at hope, dignity, and the possibility of rebuilding life.

WHAT

100 VIGILS. 100 ELECTORATES.
100 DAYS OF PRAYERFUL WITNESS.

We are called to come together in prayer and explore  opportunities to take action together for Justice for People Seeking Asylum.  #EndTheWaiting For Asylum Seekers

HOW

Join a vigil   |   Host a vigil  |

Urge the Government to provide:

  1. A pathway to permanency for all asylum seekers failed by Australia’s flawed asylum processes, including those subjected to the Fast Track system.
  2. Work rights for all asylum seekers while claims are processed.
  3. One visa that extends until claims are processed—ending the bureaucratic nightmare of applying for a new visa every three to six months.
