Local heroes in the warzone of Gaza
A United Nations report* has concluded Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. The finding comes as Israel began a ground assault on Gaza City on Tuesday.
In Gaza, the night brings no peace. The hum of bombs fills the streets, and families go to bed hungry and afraid. Amid this fear, ACT Alliance local partners continue to show up, risking everything to help others. One of them recently shared her story with Katie Roxburgh, an Act for Peace colleague at Christian Aid.
She said to Katie:
“Every day, since the ground invasion began, I see the white light before I sleep. The sound of bombing is constant. If the bombs don’t kill me, I think the fear will. And yet, I get up each morning to help others.”

This is the terrifying reality families in Gaza are facing right now.
Famine has been officially declared. More than half a million people are starving, many of them children. Families are going without food for days at a time. Parents risk their lives just to queue for bread. Hospitals are running out of the most basic supplies.
And yet, in the midst of this nightmare, our local partners are still there. Despite losing homes, loved ones, and even going hungry themselves, they keep serving others.

Thanks to the compassion of generous supporters, local partners are responding to families’ most urgent needs. Because they are already on the ground, they know their communities, the risks, and the fastest ways to reach those in the most urgent need.
Your gifts make a real difference by enabling them to:
- Deliver emergency food supplies for families including fruit, vegetables and other essentials.
- Repair wells and run community kitchens, giving families clean water and daily bread.
- Provide mobile medical care for mothers, babies, and those cut off from clinics.
- Create safe learning spaces for children so they can keep learning, laughing, and being children again.
But the situation is constantly changing, and new needs emerge every day.
This is not a distant tragedy. It is a preventable disaster.
Your support strengthens partners who are uniquely able to respond on the ground and bring hope to families facing unimaginable hardship.
