How We Work

The NCCA gathers together Churches and Christian communities which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures. We commit to deepen our relationship with each other and to work together towards the fulfilment of common witness, proclamation and service, to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

God’s story is one of restoration. From the prophets who spoke of God binding up the broken-hearted (Isaiah 61:1), to Jesus who healed the sick (Mark 1:40-45) and welcomed the outcast (Luke 19:1-10), to the promise of a new creation where all things are made whole (Isaiah 65:17)—healthy relationships are meant to reflect this story. Relationships where grace, inclusion, forgiveness and healing are possible.

Relationships, households, and churches are meant to nurture, support, and protect – places where violence against women and children, and men has no place. And yet, the painful reality is that many relationships fall far short. Violence, coercion, and control exists within families and churches.

In Australia, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 8 men have experienced violence from an intimate partner or family member since the age of 15. Women are disproportionately harmed, reflecting broader patterns of gender inequality. Tragically, abuse can be reinforced within Christian communities when Scripture is misused to silence victims or deny women’s full humanity.

The daily blog series will guide you to explore:

  • What healthy relationships really look like across different relationships
  • Stories from survivors, advocates, pastors, and theologians
  • Biblical reflections and practical ways to act in love, justice, and care

Let us have hope. Hope that as a society we can work together to create relationships and church communities that are healthy and flourishing.
