Responsible Lending Laws

Australia's Parliament sits next week, beginning Monday 23 November 2020 and the Government will be looking to wind back its responsible lending legislation.

This could have devastating effects for many disadvantaged people.

Across our Church networks there are a significant number of financial counselling providers and emergency relief and related support services. Responsible lending laws that were introduced after the GFC provided critical consumer protections. Changes to these laws are of concern to us all.

The Responsible Lending Campaign Kit has been developed by the Consumer Action Law Centre to be used as a way to get the message across from as many people as possible. The attached campaign kit contains all the information, templates and action suggestions.

You are encouraged to write to or call your local members and MP’s to voice concerns. Send this through your networks as wide as you can to as many people as possible and get behind the campaign.
