Act for Peace

Ukraine emergency appeal - update

Since 24th February, the world has been in shock at the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Leaving everything behind, people are fleeing the conflict in Ukraine.  They need shelter, food and water. It’s unlike anything seen in Europe since the Second World War.

Act for Peace has exciting news.

In an Australian first, Act for Peace is partnering with other leading international aid charities, the ABC and the Federal Government in a combined effort to support families caught up in the devastating war unfolding in Ukraine.

A new coalition for greater impact.

Through a new coalition, called the Emergency Action Alliance (EAA), Act for Peace are working together to create a single, simple way for Australians to donate to the relief effort, and to ensure those funds are used effectively on the ground.

The approach is modelled on other successful coalitions around the world, which have raised record-breaking sums for the Ukraine emergency in the past few weeks.

Act for Peace are excited to be partnering with 14 other Australian-based member charities – including Oxfam, Save the Children Australia, Caritas Australia and Australia for UNHCR, supported by the ABC and the Government – to achieve maximum impact for those affected by emergencies.

The Australian Government has already backed the EAA’s Ukraine appeal with $2 million.

The EAA has now launched its first joint appeal, raising urgent funds to help those forced to flee their homes by conflict in Ukraine, and we are very pleased that the federal government have already announced that they will provide $2 million to this fund.

AfPx150Thank you

Thank you for your commitment to create a world where people uprooted by conflict and disaster have a safe place to belong.

Working together really is the only way to tackle the displacement crisis in Ukraine. Act for Peace are excited about the collective impact that can be made through their involvement in the EAA.

Give now to the Ukraine appeal

If you have not yet supported the emergency appeal, or if you have and are in a position to do more, you can still support families fleeing the conflict in Ukraine with a gift today.

You will be helping our partners on the ground provide both practical and emotional support to those impacted by this crisis.

Your support is helping people like Mykhaila* and her daughter who fled their home in Loubny, central Ukraine when the war erupted in Ukraine. They travelled by train and bus before eventually arriving in Poland on foot. They intend to travel onwards to Germany in search of safety. [Image: DEC]
