The Middle East Council of Churches in Syria interviewed His Eminence Ephraim Maalouli, Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Aleppo, Alexandretta, and Dependencies. In the interview, H.E. Maalouli describes how churches are responding to earthquake-related needs in Syria.

The community in Syria have experienced terror and endured much damage. However, in Aleppo, churches work to heal the wounds of people; opening church halls and basements for shelter.

“A lot of people were scared to go back to their homes.” H.E. Ephraim Maalouli said.

Following the earthquakes, assistance from the churches was immediate, offering shelter, necessities and receiving generous donations from many sources.

“We ask God to grant us better days because people in this country deserve to live peacefully.”
