Call for unifying prayer across our nation for the nations

DAILY PRAYERS & NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER, AMIDST COVID-19

On Tuesday 17 March the NCCA sent a letter to Australian Church Leaders inviting us into an opportunity to unite in prayer amidst rising rates of COVID-19 infection. We encourage all our Christian brothers, sisters and friends to take up this offer.

The NCCA President, Bishop Philip Huggins, made the following suggestions:

  • Invite our people to offer prayer every evening until Easter at 19:00 hours
  • Make a particular focus of Prayer for the Nations amidst COVID-19 on Sunday week, 29 March 2020

The Gospel reading set down for Sunday 29 March, for most Australian churhes is from John 11, as Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life”.

A PRAYER FOR EACH DAY AT 1900 Hours AND
FOR SUNDAY 29 MARCH AS WE OFFER PRAYERS FOR OUR NATION, AMIDST COVID-19.

Gracious God,

We give thanks anew for your providence and presence.
We prayerfully seek your grace, amidst COVID-19 here and overseas.
We pray for those in need of healing.
We pray for your peace with those who are anxious or grieving.
We pray you will continue to strengthen and sustain all those who are serving in response.
We pray for your Holy Spirit’s discernment amidst the many choices and decisions facing our national, community and medical leaders.
We pray we each might see quickly what more we can do to help those who are vulnerable.
This prayer for our nation in the family of nations, with all that is on our hearts, we gather now and pray through Jesus Christ our Lord.

AMEN.
