The Faith and Unity Commission Presents
100 Years of the Ecumenical Movement: Opening Horizons for the 21st Century

In conjunction with a course offered by the Centre for Ecumenical Studies that runs prior to the forum, the Faith and Unity pre-forum day event will focus on models of ecumenical engagement. The event will include The WCC Faith and Unity Commission representative, John Gibaut, as the main speaker, amongst a panel of other representatives from the ecumenical field.

 This exciting event will be held: Friday, 9th July 2010, 9.00 am – 3.30 pm
                                                 at the Australian Centre for Christianity & Culture 15 Blackall Street, Canberra

o to mark the 100th anniversary of the Edinburgh International Mission Conference by looking to what we can take forward
    and what is changing, and
o to identifying prospects & signs of hope, new methodologies and challenges.

GibautThe Revd Dr John Gibaut
Dr Gibaut has been the Director of the World Council of Churches' Faith and Order Commission since January, 2008.  He earned a doctorate in theology from Trinity College and the University of Toronto and has taught in the Faculty of Theology, Saint Paul University, a Roman Catholic University.  From 1994 to 2003, he served as the Director of Anglican Studies, Faculty of Theology, and became associate professor of Church History and Secretary of the Faculty in 2004.  An experienced educator, at the WCC he seeks to encourage a greater awareness of the work of Faith and Order and of the need for strong ecumenical formation in centres of theological education.
