Journey of Promise

Harmony Day

HARMONY DAY Journey of Promise event

Harmony Day logoThe final step in the Journey of Promise was an event for Harmony Day 2004, which was planned by the participants themselves to celebrate their journey and to share with others what they have learnt on the way.

The original plan was to hold an inter-faith picnic in Hyde Park.  Unfortunately the weather prohibited this on the day, but a good gathering was held in the crypt of St.Mary's Cathedral instead, with information stalls, a showing of a video teaser/taster of the JOP documentary, and time for people to get to know one another better.

"This project is proudly supported by the Australian Government's Living in Harmony initiative.  Administered by the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs, the Living in Harmony initiative aims to promote community harmony.  It recognises that, whatever our backgrounds and beliefs, we are united as Australians and want to live in a country that is free of racial intolerance.  For more information on the Living in Harmony initiative, visit www.immi.gov.au/harmony."
