Chanukah Celebrations

CHANUKAH JOP gathering

step two on the Journey of Promise

The second major event on the inter-faith Journey of Promise will be on 21 December 2003, when the group of young Christians, Muslims and Jews will gather together at the Great Synagogue in Sydney at the start of the Jewish festival of Chanukkah.

The Journey of Promise participants will be special guests of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry for the Chanukah concert.   This will involve performances from Jimmy Barnes and Roobie Wolf from Diesel among others, as well as a candlighting ceremony.

"This project is proudly supported by the Australian Government's Living in Harmony initiative.  Administered by the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs, the Living in Harmony initiative aims to promote community harmony.  It recognises that, whatever our backgrounds and beliefs, we are united as Australians and want to live in a country that is free of racial intolerance.  For more information on the Living in Harmony initiative, visit www.immi.gov.au/harmony."
