Hiroshima clockRemembering Hiroshima 60 Years On

The clock stopped at 8:15 a.m., the moment the world's second atomic bomb,
Little Boy is detonated 1,900 feet above Hiroshima, Japan.

The 60th Anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima is fast approaching – 6th August 2005. Join a group visiting Japan from Sunday, 31st July to Monday, 8th August 2005.

Purpose: To mark the 60th Anniversary of the Bombing of Hiroshima and to make contacts with Peace Groups/Organisations in Japan. We will attend the anniversary service on the 6th August at the Peace Museum. We will also visit tourist spots in Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto and Hiroshima plus free relaxation time.

We will be bringing greetings from the Mayor of Moonee Valley Council and the Moderator of the Synod of Victoria and Tasmania to the Mayor of Hiroshima. One thousand paper cranes made by the students of North Essendon Primary School will be presented to the Peace Museum in Hiroshima.

Total cost approximately $3,000. This includes airfare, twin share accommodation, 7 day Rail Pass and Narita Airport Limo transfer coupon. Some extra funds will be needed for insurance, taxes, medication, meals and personal spending etc.
