Our People

Rev Elenie PoulosElenie resized

Farewell and may God be with you.

It is with sadness but with huge gratitude that we farewell Elenie as God calls her to new paths.

Rev Elenie Poulos, a minister of the Uniting Church in Australia (UCA), has worked tirelessly with NCCA for justice and peace since being nominated at the National Forum in 2003. At the time Elenie had been working with the UCA Assembly for just under a year as the Director of the National office for Social Responsibility and Justice (rebranded in 2003 as UnitingJusitce).

With her trademark passion and energy, Elenie stepped into several roles with NCCA, working with the Christian World Service (CWS – now Act for Peace), the Australian Churches Refugee Taskforce (ACRT) and the Social Justice Network. Despite her busy schedules and ever increasing workload she gave of her time and knowledge very generously and graciously. For the last three years Elenie has lent her leadership skills as co convenor of the Social Justice Network.

Elenie has been the driving force behind many activities and publications that have been released over the years. It would be an understatement to say that we will miss her. Her contribution has been valuable and her friendship even more so.

We are not alone in our farewells and good wishes. A closure of ministry service was held for Rev Poulos last Friday 17 February at Pitt Street Uniting Church.

For further detail on Elenie’s ministry with the Uniting Church:

We wish Elenie well as she steps down from her various roles to complete a PhD at Macquarie University on politics, religion and human rights advocacy.

Elenie, May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
