Make Indigenous Poverty History

15 Years of the NCCA
and the Commissioning of the 3rd General SecretaryThe NCCA Mantle

The Inaugural Service of the National Council of Churches in Australia took place at St Christopher's Cathedral, Canberra, on 3 July 1994.

At a service to be held on 24 June the National Council of Churches will celebrate 15 years of ecumenical service within Australia and overseas.  This is a significant moment as we reflect on the Councils many great Christian achievements, contributions and experiences.

The Revd Tara Curlewis, a long standing member of the NCCA Executive, will be commissioned at the service as we welcome her into a new relationship with the Council.

There are anywhere between 100,000 and 200,000 innocent civilians caught up in the conflict between the Tamil Tiger Separatists and the government forces in Sri Lanka. act for peace’s partners have begun providing food and non-food relief items, shelter, water and sanitation, trauma and health care. They have also begun coordinating education, creative and livelihood activities, as well as protection activities for internally displaced persons in camps by linking families living in other camps and in India.

We urgently need your help to ensure this vital work continues.
