Regional Refugee Protection Advisor

This exciting new position requires a well-networked strategic thinker, with relevant expertise to lead the development of a concrete vision and strategy for enhanced refugee protection in the Asia-Pacific region and an alternative Australian policy on regional refugee protection. The candidate would need to consult widely, identify gaps and challenges, build consensus on policy alternatives and mobilise the support of a wide array of actors who can bring influence and resources to bear in the effort to strengthen regional protection.

Act for Peace is the international aid agency of the National Council of Churches in Australia and we work according to the mandate set by our 19 member Churches. We seek to assist the most conflict and disaster-affected communities to be safe. This means empowering communities to prevent conflict, protect refugees and reduce poverty.
We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated team player with well-honed research, analytical and communication skills, and ample experience of providing high-level advice and generating dialogue and collaboration between actors.
