Twenty years ago, Aung San Suu Kyi's party, the National League for Democracy, won the national election in Burma in a landslide.

The military junta prevented it from taking power.

Now another election has been promised but restrictions on freedom of expression, association and assembly are severe and likely to escalate as the vote draws near.
