About the Safe Church Training Agreement (SCTA)
The SCTA is a service offered by the NCCA which facilitated quality Safe Church (i.e. duty of care, child protection, good leadership practice, safe leaders, and safe programs) awareness training in Australian Churches. The SCTA is not a product, but rather a mechanism to facilitate Safe Church training.
The SCTA aims provide a mechanism for facilitating collaborative, quality Safe Church Awareness Training within the Australian Christian church context, and by so doing, make Australian hurches safer places.
The Standards exist to:- Set a high standard for Safe Places programs throughout the Australian church
- Provide clear indicators for the mapping of training programs to determine where requirements are covered and where gaps exist
- Provide an instrument that could be used by government bodies to audit training programs offered by churches and Christian organisations in Australia
- Give states &/or denominations and organisations a quick checklist to determine if they are within the “ballpark” of meeting requirements for endorsement to become an Agreement Training Partners
SCTA Involvement Levels - Members and Training Partners
Safe Church Training Agreement (SCTA) Members are Christian organisations who pay an annual membership fee and become SCTA Members. All SCTA training is conducted by "Endorsed Training Partners", who offer their training to the wider Christian community.
Those seeking to become Endorsed Training Partners submit their program to be reviewed against the national standards with a view to having it, and their workshop presenters, endorsed, or use a denominational adaptation of the SCTA Awareness Manual. Note: Endorsed Training Partners will be able to recoup the cost of their membership fees by charging individuals for attendance at workshops.

The day-to-day management and running of the agreement is the responsibility of the SCTA UNIT. This consists on the National Coordinator, the Training and Development Officer, and the SCTA Unit Support person. The NCCA Support Services department will provide assistance as needed.
