About the SCTA
The National Council NCCA-SCTA is a self-funded service operating within the structures of the NCCA with both NCCA member churches and non-member churches as signatories of the agreement (SCTA members).
It aims to resource and facilitate sustainable, quality, accessible, Safe Church training and implementation support for Christian churches.
Safe Church training is awareness-level training in holistic Safe Church ministry, i.e. sharing in ministry, duty of care, protecting vulnerable people, child protection, safe leaders -codes of conduct, safe recruitment and ministry supervision, risk management and the establishment of safe environments for ministry programs.
To ensure a high quality in both training programs and presenting, a set of SCTA - National Standards were developed in consultation with Australian denominations. These standards are now used to ‘endorse’ the programs and the process for training workshop presenters. NCCA-SCTA ‘members’, who pay an annual membership gain access to the services of the SCTA. All NCCA-SCTA endorsed workshops are presented by members who have become training partners. NB: Membership fees do not include the cost of attending a training partners courses (ranging from $15-$30 per person). The NCCA-SCTA operates as members send their church leaders (volunteer and paid) to NCCASCTA endorsed workshops, which are nationally recognised by all other member organisations (denominations / dioceses/ Christian organisations).
