Holistic Safe Church Ministry

scta_logo

The SCTA resources and facilitates collaborative, sustainable, quality, accessible holistic Safe Church ministry training and implementation support within the Australian Christian church context.

But what is holistic Safe Church ministry?

Holistic Safe Church ministry is fulfilling and integrating our pastoral, legal (child protection, duty of care, due diligence), insurance, risk management, denominational (structural) and ethical responsibilities, including the provision of high quality prevention and response strategies for critical incident, abuse, misconduct and grievance related issues. The aim of holistic Safe Church ministry is God-honouring, abuse free, harm free, person valuing and respecting ministry. Ministry which keeps all people physically, emotionally and spiritually safe, and where it fails to do so responds with love, compassion and justice.

The following diagrams illustrate the idea of holistic Safe Church ministry using the metaphor of a cliff - where prevention is seen as the proactive 'fences' we build at the top of the cliff to stop harm from occurring,  and the 'ambulance' at the bottom of the cliff as the reactive response when dispite our best effort people are harmed. A holistic approach integrates a good 'fence' and a high quality 'ambulance'.
