Treasure in Earthen Vessels
The Faith and Unity Commission has discussed in detail the publication A Treasure in Earthen Vessels, and commends it to people in the churches for their study, reflection and stimulation.
It is a Faith and Order Paper (n. 182) of the World Council of Churches. It is the product of a major project on hermeneutics. Therefore, it is a text that explores the complex but often creative field of hermeneutics, focusing on the hermeneutical task entailed in the search for visible church unity. It is particularly intended for:
Groups and committees preparing and responding to ecumenical documents
Councils of churches creating study programmes
Ecumenical officers and ecumenical committees of churches developing interchurch relations
Persons who exercise a ministry of oversight
Local churches and their ministers
Teachers of ecumenism
This Paper - "an instrument for an ecumenical reflection on hermeneutics" - is available from the National Council of Churches in Australia. It costs $5.70 (incl. GST).
