Simply Sharing Week is a joint program of Caritas Australia and Christian World Service. This year the aim of the program is to 'help kids get off to a good start' by ensuring that children at risk have access to good dietary and health services. Click here for information, activities and education resources.

Act for the Christmas Bowl

Christmas Bowl is CWS's annual appeal, aiming to fund our emergency, peace and development initiatives. The Christmas Bowl helps bring hope through 44 programs to people in 22 countries across Africa, Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific. The Christmas Bowl also works in Australia with refugees and displaced people, and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Partners4Peace

Partners4Peace is our monthly giving program and allows givers to make a difference in the world, year round. Giving each month is directed towards specific projects selected with the aim of building peace in the world. There is the option to assign gifts to the area of greatest need, and monthly letters 'Peace Mails' are sent from partners. At least 80% of gifts goes directly to work in projects.

Make Poverty History

Every day 30,000 children die as a result of extreme poverty. This shameful situation must end. If we have the will to act we can Make Poverty History.

Make Poverty History is a non-partisan coalition of more than 60 aid organisations, community and faith-based groups. We call on all political parties to take the following steps needed to achieve the Millennium Development Goals:

  • increase Australia's aid and ensure it is used effectively
  • make trade fair
  • drop the debts of poor countries
  • help poor countries keep their governments accountable, and
  • tackle climate change in developing countries.

Make Poverty History needs your voice. Join the millions of people in Australia and around the world who are taking action to Make Poverty History.

Take Action To Ban Cluster Munitions

Cluster munitions kill and maim innocent people in conflict areas around the world during war time and long after the final shots have been fired. The Cluster Munition Coalition (CMC) is an international coalition of non-governmental organisations campaigning for an international treaty that will ban these brutal and indiscriminate weapons. CWS is committed to ensuring the Australian government signs this treaty and recognises the unnecessary suffering caused by cluster munitions.

To commit to a treaty banning cluster bombs in 2008 please click here.
