National Day of Prayer
in Time of Drought

26 November 2006

"We invite all Australians
to express their solidarity with those who are suffering
by taking a few moments to pray
or to join a local worship service where prayers will be offered,"
said Archbishop Phillip Aspinall,
Primate of the Anglican Church of Australia.

At a recent meeting of heads of Churches the struggles and concerns of all Australians, particularly those in severely drought affected areas, were acknowledged.  Strong support was expressed for a National Day of Prayer, called for by many church groups and individual Australians.  It was agreed to encourage churches and church groups to remember the many people suffering economically, personally and communally from the effects of drought on Sunday, 26 November 2006.
