Earthquake Response

Act for Peace’s partner in Chile, Church World Service (CWS), is undertaking emergency response and recovery work following the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that hit central Chile early Saturday, killing over 700 people, and triggering tsunami warnings across the Pacific, including Australia. The death toll is set to rise and curfews have been imposed as looting flares.

In Memoriam - His Beatitude Mar Narsai DeBaz

14 February 2010 - Phoenix, AZ, USA - His Beatitude Mar Narsai DeBaz, Metropolitan of the Assyrian Church of the East in Lebanon, Syria and Europe passed away.
His Beatitude was deeply involved in many councils of the Church. He attended all the 11 Holy Synods presided over by Catholicos Patriarch Mar Dinkha IV up to 2008. As Deputy to the Patriarch, he was with His Holiness when the Catholicos Patriarch signed the Common Christological Declaration with Pope John Paul II at the Vatican in November 1994. Churches Celebrate the Milestones of Unity and Mission

Thousands of Australian Christians are preparing to reflect and pray together as they celebrate the milestones of unity and mission. This year the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity takes place in the context of the 100th anniversary of the landmark 1910 World Mission Conference in Edinburgh. Appropriately the theme for this year has been prepared for churches around the world by a group from Scotland.
